Karen,
With one of your emails to me after learning that I had stage four breast cancer you changed my life and gave me a new direction. After being treated locally and returning from MD Anderson very disillusioned, your words gave me hope. And off to CTCA we went. They met my every expectation and were ready to help me fight instead of give me expiration dates. As of Jan, 2010 my cancer is in total remission. They rock and so do you! Thank you.

Customer service has been presented many ways and at our bank, we are always looking for different approaches on the same subject. I like this classification. Sounds intriguing. I hope the Service Hopelesses could recognize this in themselves and exit from the service arena. Sadly, this is where many entry level jobs are located...the front line. It's our first impression to the public, and if they don't just LOVE people, well, the situation is hopeless!

Just finding your work via Ideahaus. Totally enjoy your approach and love
seeing the reaction from your audience. Love the balance of humor
and message. It works.

Bravo!

Whew. I have wondered what happened to the delighfilled publications and efforts of JNJ. Grief is never completly 'behind us' so I offer my condolences at such a great loss.
I still have my video tape of "Who's Got the Keys" and recently came across it with my son who recalled watching it with me when he was about 7 years old! As he prepares to enter college and is quite informed & engaged in health care issues & reform may he be further inspired and motivated by the important message and legacy left for us.

I was just looking at an old copy of JNJ, and wondered if any one knows of any other nursing humor magazines? JNJ was a great magazine. I had the honor on going on one of their yearly jocularity cruises. It was unforgetable.

Great post Karyn, and certainly needed in the troubling times of our economy (even if originally written with the idea of terror in mind).

Also your quote from Lincoln reminds me of one from Gandhi:

"If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide."

I am a former epmployee of Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I worked for them just three shorts years, but I was there long enough to know what really goes on behind the scenes. Based on what I saw and learned there, there is by far not a better hospital for cancer patients. I have never before, or since, worked for a hospital that cares so much for their patients and their recovery. I wish Cancer Treatment could set the standard for care in all hospitals.
